I attended an International Workshop from the 3rd-13th February in Brussels. The workshop was the 2nd of three spanning over 3 years. In this stage of the workshop our role was to explore design solutions to the problem of sacred places becoming unused and abandoned.

Throughout the workshop we attended lectures by various people in the design industry to gain different views and opinions on what exactly a sacred place is. Students from many backgrounds were invited varying from Turkey, England, Estonia, Germany, Belgium and Italy.

Each day we would have a presentation from a different University to gain knowledge of what they believed to be a sacred place. We also had many site visits to different churches and a masonry Temple. We got assigned a church as our case study and had to come up with a suitable design solution while considering many complex factors.

Overall the workshop was very interesting and enjoyable.

And I came away with more knowledge and skills as well as making some really good new friends.
